Do you want a walking bus from LPS to Lindfield Station? PDF Print E-mail

We want to launch an afternoon walking bus from Lindfield Public School to Lindfield Station, are you interested?

Why?

There are a lot of families who would take this route on the way home or would like to avoid the parking hassles around the school.

The aim of this walking bus is:

- To allow parents to avoid crossing the highway; and

- To allow parents to take advantage of available parking around the station; and

- To improve supervision of children already walking this route; and

- To end the walking bus in a place convenient to a larger group of parents.

How?

east lindfield walking bus

Children meet at a nominated "bus stop" after the bell within the school grounds. Bus will leave at a nominated time eg 3.05 to arrive at 3.15pm. Children who miss the bus could report to the office as per usual bus routine.

Depending on size of bus, 2 or more parents lead the bus on a nominated route.

Bus finishes at a nominated meeting point on the concourse at Lindfield Public Station. It is up to parents to decide if their child has permission to continue walking home, continue to another meeting point or must wait on the concourse (with the advantage of security cameras).

The details of how the bus operates will be decided by participating parents eg if supervising parents will wait until children are picked up.

When?

Lindfield Public School Fundraiser, Saturday 23 October 2010

The Year 3 Fundraising Team has once again come up with a fabulous theme for the night, so please buy a ticket and come along.

All monies raised from this event will assist in the payment of our literacy and mathematics programmes which focus on children who are struggling with their reading, writing and mathematics skills.  At a cost per annum of approximately $52,000 per year, it is only with financial support of the parents and the community that we are able to continue with these important programmes.

But wait, there’s more…

The money from the ticket sales will only go so far and what we really need are donations, either gift vouchers or items that we can auction off on the night, or something that could be raffled off as a major prize of the night.

* Perhaps you own a business that could offer an item or a service.
* Or you could donate a week at your holiday house.
* Maybe you are willing to part with some of your signed sports memorabilia.
* Or you have a contact in the tourism industry.
* Do you have access to a backstage pass to a show?
* Or members’ tickets to a sporting event?

All contributions will be acknowledged and promoted on our school’s website, in our weekly newsletter, in advertisements for the night and also on the evening.

Please contact Kelsie Alden on 8012 6792 or email kelsie_alden@yahoo,com.au.

We thank you for your support.
