Another year of fun is starting for the Chess Club. We are very happy to see our current players back and would like to welcome our newcomers. Our club is for all LPS students who are interested in chess and we can accommodate kids with different skill levels from novices to advanced players. We are very lucky to have a competent and experienced team of chess coaches - Miro Nowak, Blair Mandla and Kathy Kuestler - at our school. The kids will have fun and surely learn lots from them.

We are trying to provide the best opportunity for our children to learn and utilize their skills. We believe that there are significant benefits from playing chess including:

Improve critical thinking skills and concentration,

Learn good sportsmanship - win and lose with grace,

Develop decision-making and planning skills,

Make new friends and have fun!

At the moment, we have 40 members in the club. We would like to encourage children who wish to join to contact (details below) or just show up on Friday after school.
