LPS students from Years One and Two are invited to join this group.
We meet every second Wednesday to share lunch with nature, under a tree somewhere in our playground. After lunch we create or maintain an area in the playground. We use native plants (predominantly) and the children are learning to mulch heavily to prevent water loss and to cut down on weeding. Watering with the water from our school tanks is most satisfying.
We have also planted out the school vegetable garden, our canteen enjoys the fresh produce. The Envirobugs are learning to combat the birds, snails and leaf-eating insects using environmentally friendly principles.
As a group we lead the way with environment challenges within the school. We care about the effects of climate change and believe that we can each contribute to lessen its impact on the modern world.
